Lizards of the Mental Maze

Have you felt it? This presence presiding over your experience of life. Like a slimy and watchful lizard issuing silent judgements on each of your decisions. It has silent judgments on each of your actions. The judgmental buzzing of this creature in your metaphorical ear is same as that of the reptilian eyesore on the ceiling. Always there, staring back at your being.

And, if you are lucky, sometimes there's a jury of lizards out there. Hurriedly buzzing in the marketplace of your mind. Each one of them has an opinion on your doings and undoing. They also possess the entitlement to express it.

This arrangement breeds toxicity. And that drains your energy. So much so that it seems taxing to live. For living means deciding. And with each decision comes the deafening buzz of reptilian judgements.

When the alarm buzzes, a simple decision whether to snooze or to get up becomes a battlefield of competing opinions. But beyond this blood and bones of thoughts and judgements lies the answer to the question you were meaning to ask. All this while, beyond the artificial presence of fearful lizards, is that answer.

But the question is, what is it that I seek to ask?

Blacks and Greens.

I don't remember clearly when it had begun or why did it start? There was no one single moment of strong urge or temptation that shook my foundations. There wasn't even a clear cut day that I can trace it all down to.  There were some tumultuous moments like when friends got rightfully angry. But then, a lot of water has flown through the Indravati since.

There is actually no larger-than-life, profound reason for me to continue this compulsion. There is no profoundness rather anywhere in this entire scheme of things. I am often challenged by otherwise scary imaginary feelings of breathlessness. Ironically, I write this while sitting in an airborne plane - the origin of it all.   Showing the little significance that psychological imaginations of the past hold today.

Something is happening though - I felt a greater depth in the sea this time around when I started swimming. It didn't feel like a plunge pool where my chaotic bodily movements are enough to shake up everything. It feels like an oceanic body of profound couldn't - care - less - ness that characterises the depth of experiential existence.

A part of me is asking for the chaos. It asks for confusion and clutter. Deriving sadistic pleasure out of the numerous psychological battles fought on my mental ground. There's only one casualty of these power struggles between my schizophrenic selves - My Self Confidence . I, very subtly, gradually and steadily start subscribing to submissive thoughts. The vibe of compromise and settling for the fat.

So what is it? An accidental nightmare that I am living out in my matrix, or a concerted effort to intentionally create chaos. Chaos that shakes my very psychological foundations. Pushes me to look for the real core value system that feeds and nourishes me. Because a lot of times, knowing is the goal.

Coming back to my point, whatever this is - it clearly demands (rather urgently and strongly) my conscious attempt to boost my self - confidence. It is like the metallic armour around the "right" mindset. Built through affirmations and visualisations - it gives me a sense of security.

Maybe it is not the matter of creating and lugging around battle ready armour coats. Maybe it is the time to look through the futility of all clothes that life has to offer. And understand them for just what they are. Just pieces of clothes...

Maybe it is time to tune into my basic ability of designing and sewing my clothes. The "right" ones, that address the need of the hour - the requirements of the people/situations and functions.

The ability to do absolutely whatever I want. Without weighing in the numerous, oft-contradictory thought patterns. The clutter of imagined importance.

This reminds me of my quests to look into the mirror, especially after the first few days of the black and the green. They were attempts to find the right cloth and design for the most appropriate wear in the need of the hour.

As someone smart would have definitely said at some point of time -

"Sometimes the real offering is hidden in plain sight. One just needs to inch closely at the foliage to understand the voice of the living forest. Hear the words it mutters in your ears. The woods are not just meant to confuse you - they are clearing the path for something more meaningful. They punctuate the path to the meadows. The path that is lit up by the bright sun of awareness. One should cherish these woods as divine offerings as they give him company."

As you said yourself - there is nothing profound - it is all shit. Some shit is more useful than the rest. Play along.

UnFuckWithAble

You mistake it as children's stuff,
This tricky play of crests and troughs…

As the cold sea breeze hits the soaring waves,
One has to know when to ride and when to wait…

When the ocean is your guru, you might forget,
This game's point is not to get mighty wet…

You should soar above the waves so high,
Life's dreams and visions make you fly…

Lost in your Guru's loving grace,
Judging nothing, no person or place,
Skate smoothly over any karmic whirlpool,
You're better than any memory-hugging sinking fool…

Doesn’t matter who made the karmic puddle in jest,
On my dear ocean Guru's chest,
Smoothly do I stay aboard and continue to surf,
No matter who or what tries to rock my home turf…

Samyama

The word Samyama dates back to Patanjali and it means different things to different people, but the recent turn of events in my life has changed what this word means for me forever. It is the process where I was virtually taken out of my worldly life settings by an unparalleled power and soaked in the grace and love of a deeply compassionate being. Only to be thrown back again in the worldly mess once the lure of the latter began to dissolve. It was an experience infinitely greater than my own being's capacity to fathom, comprehend and leave alone express. Yet, here is an attempt -

Out of the blue you called this terrible fool,
As he tore out of his claustrophobic body,
Is when you threw him back to the Karmic whirlpool…

You invoked the Mahadev to destroy this creature,
His karmic body did experience a tiny fissure,
Through this very hole he tasted his real nature…

Twelve years long solar cycle wasted in outward search,
One moment you took to show that he was only dirt…

Perhaps his karmas had not earned him a longer stay,
But the tears of clarity made him understand his ways,
It is the breath that he has to spend his time with,
Clean his windshield that is splattered with karmic bullshit…

No use to paint stories on this shit smeared window,
Patiently tending to the roots and shoots of the seed is the only way it will grow…

2015: Silence and Six Pack

There's so much that I want to be
Yet i cant see how to proceed,
Mentally fickle I have been,
Never letting blossoming of the being...

I need to break these notional shackles,
It needs a strong will for them to be tackled...
Time has come for me to reach,
For the innermost center of mental peace...

As I see inside,
So do I see,
A zeal to change and be free...

Tired of the mind I have been,
A silent breeze leads me to the being...
Away from the numbing comforts it makes me run,
Till the inner mysteries are undone...

Time to live the life I so dearly love,
While connecting with the one above..
So I sit here seeking fresh new years' resolutions,
When it dawns there are no ready made solutions...

The meditative soul will give this body sheen,
Allowing self growth that's so pristine...
An year to remember it'll surely be,
This year, this 2015...
